Netherlands 5 getting DDoSed, investigations (Resolved)

Affecting System - PPTP, L2TP, OpenVPN, CGIProxy | Priority - Critical

Netherlands 5 node has been subject to DDoS attacks. We need to investigate what is going on, and eventually, set up some mitigation policies with the firewall. We will be using Wireshark from the 30/11/2013 00.00 CET to have a look at our traffic. This will allow our sysop team to view the encrypted traffic. If you wish the sysop team not to look at your activities (even if it is encrypted), please turn to another node until the investigation is terminated, on Monday morning.

EDIT2: While the intervention has allowed us to collect the list of IPs and ports that were used during the DDoS attack, in order to design better mitigation policies for the future, it has apparently also contributed to the attacker's decision to suspend his or her attack. If this is due by a way or another to some recognition that this IP was part of our network, we hereby salute the attacker's maturity for establishing a difference between our services and what one of our end-users could do with them. Australia node potentially closing (Resolved)

Affecting System - PPTP, L2TP, OpenVPN, CGIProxy | Priority - Critical

Our node in Australia is currently subject to abuse complaints but these abuse do not relate to activities harmful to human beings. We told DC and authorities we have nothing for them and we will not setup wireshark for the reasons expressed by the complaint. This ticket is to inform you that Australia might disappear all of the sudden if we do not reach any satisfying agreement with the datacenter to prevent any form of intervention. Indeed, in case the complaint persists or we suspect of any move without our agreement, we will simply shut our node down, and this will make the node completely void/empty as RAM cleans up. In such scenario, it might then take us several weeks before we open again a node in Australia. Stay tuned.

Update 12/9/2013: The problem has now been resolved. The DC has agreed to filled out a blank return about the complaint and the node can remain online until further notice.

U.S. Illinois 1 to be back soon (Resolved)

We are unfortunate to announce that there have been abuse complaints about hacking activities on our U.S. Illinois 1 node. We have been saddened to learn that these actions were harmful to individuals (human beings). As a result, we will open this node again and monitor it with Wireshark for a period of 7 days. If you are the hacker, please stop your activities and leave our network. You are not welcome here. Our heaven is reserved to those who are not harmful to other human beings. If you do not leave, we will find you and report your activities to NGO and press officers. For all others, the heaven is still safe for you, dear ones. We will completely remove Wireshark after 7 days and restart the node so that everything is erased (RAM-switch). All other nodes are left unaffected by these actions.

Update: Wireshark has now been removed/wiped.

Netherlands BGP intervention (Resolved)
